Zoey (AKA angel)

In October of this year, I found Angel on Petfinder. I regularly browsed Petfinder with my kids just to look... but when we came across Zoey (Angel) I couldn't get her out of my mind. I arranged to meet her as soon as possible. When we met I knew she should be part our of family and brought her home with me.
Zoey has a few issues that we are currently dealing with. In November, her left pupil became completely covered by a cataract due to Uvitis. We have just completed oral and topical sterioids with close monitoring by our vet. A check next week will tell us whether the worst is over, or if we need to pursue more medical treatment. Zoey also is not completely housetrained and we are unable to crate train her since she is content soiling her kennel - sooo we are patiently making slow progress.
Zoey has an older sister (also cocker spaniel) Sara Jane who is happy to have companionship again after losing her other companion, Annie Lou, last year.
Catkins is doing wonderful work! Zoey is a momma's girl, her love and affection is helping me through the resent passing of my father. She truly has been a gift from God.
Hi there. This here is Ginger (aka Cuddles). Ginger was adopted from Laura in March of 2007. The picture you see is of her in May of 2007. I happened to come across Ginger when looking for beagles online. Ginger is a Puggle. I saw that Laura had 3 plus Ginger. I was looking at adopted one of the other ones first. When I got to Catkins, I changed my mind and fell in love with Ginger. She had just arrived at Catkins a couple hours earlier and her picture was already online to be adopted. I showed up and adopted her the same day. Laura helped get a vet lined up and helped with the last of Ginger's vaccines. Ginger is a very energetic puppy (17 months old). She loves sitting on your lap and giving you kisses. She loves playing with my friends dogs and is still trying to gain the trusts of our cats. She loves being the center of attention. I just like to thank Laura for all her help in adopting Ginger and finding the right vet. Ginger and I appreciate all the work she does saving animals. Especially all the ones she rescued from Illinois. Keep up the good work Catkins and Laura.

Baby Jasper's growing up!

This is my sweet baby Jasper after I brought him home. He is about 10 weeks old here. He was a very tiny kitten, but has grown into a strong, independant, beautiful young cat.

One of Jasper's favorite places is my pillow. After having his evening snack, Jasper takes a little nap. He has grown into a very sleek cat, with long arms, and an incredibly long tail!

Thanks for Morgan

We adopted Morgan(aka Scruffy, a Shih Tsu mix) this fall and are so happy to have found her. Our 3 1/2 year old son and 8 year old cat now have another playmate and I have a compact, easy to care for watchdog. The only things we had to work on were reinforcing potty training and gaining her trust(especially my husband). Now, she is totally relaxed sitting on the back of our couch, her hot dog squeaky toy at her side. She is very smart and hasn't had any accidents in the house after the first week. Morgan looks like a teddy bear with a little face and big dark eyes. Her coat is a beautiful sand and cream color with silver around her ears, a lot nicer than when Catkins found her with mats, burs, and ticks on her. I was unsure about adopting her when I first saw her raggedy, frail frame. But when she wiggled her whole body, licked my hand, and stared at me with those big eyes, I knew she was ours.
Thank you Catkins. Morgan gives us so much love and we enjoy watching her blossom into such a lively, silly character.

This is Bryce. I adopted him when I went to pick up Jasper. Bryce is a very sweet cat. I'm thankful to Catkins for taking such good care of him until I adopted him.

Our new house for cats "Harold's Hideout," named after my 21 year old cat who was my first "rescue" and who passed away 3/12/07.  In Harold's Hideout, the kitties now have an indoor/outdoor house.  They can go outside during the summer and play on the grass and climb on a screened in jungle gym.  Of course it gets hot, so the inside is air conditioned and when they are done playing the cats can come inside and cool off.  In the winter Harold's Hideout is heated and the kitties have two levels to hang out in.   Over this winter we will be adding shelves so that the cats have lots of different levels to explore- and places they can get to for privacy.

Jasper at 6 weeks old.

This picture was taken by Catkins in about early May 2007. I adopted him in early June 2007. Since this picture was taken Jasper has grown into a gorgeous young cat. I'm very grateful I have him.
Hi Everyone!!!
2007 has been a wonderful year for Catkins and our first year actively promoting our pets (rather than placing them all with friends and family!).  The results have been amazing!  We adopted out approximately 70 animals this year and have over 30 in our care!  These are animals that came from shelters where they ran out of time, that were found as strays or that their families could no longer keep.  We feel blessed that we have had a chance to get to know all of these animals and that we have gotten a chance to get to know their new families as well! We have gotten back so many wonderful stories of animals adopted from our rescue and we know that if everyone at the rescue enjoys hearing these stories, other "animal people" would too!  We wanted to create a place where people who have adopted animals can post their pictures and stories and where people who rescue strays, run  shelters or are just feeling down can come and read about the happy endings rather than just hearing about the rough starts (we get a lot of those).  We also would like people who are thinking about adopting to see what previous adopters have to say.   Thank you to all of you who have helped an animal in need! Furthermore, thank you to all of the rescue's amazing volunteers and supporters: Jena, Anne, Chris, Callae, Teddy, Pam, Raeph and Tyler!  Catkins would not be what it is without your help!
